  1. Knowing what you have downloaded/added

Only download those software that are safe, or you know the source (where it come from) and which website you downloaded from. Even added a friend into a friend list, or receiving an message from an unknown individual, could be quite risky too.

  1. Refrain from downloading entertainment materials (i.e. movie/music) on your working PC

Normally those software help you to download the movie/music are running based on P2P (Peer-to-Peer) network, which will easily bring in and out malware/viruses from computer to computer.  There is also a possibility of exposing your pc to data-leaking issue.

  1. Delete unknown/spam mails

Spam mail or e-mail that send out from unknown source, or “looks weird” are normally e-mail that contain unsafety materials (i.e. virus). Normally the content tend to lure your attention and attract you to click on the link. Delete it right away and do not open them.

  1. DO NOT visit unknown website

Most of the unknown website has higher chances to infect your computer with viruses. If there is no need to visit such a website for your work purpose, then please do not visit them.

The most important part is to “Back up” your database into an external drive/internet drive. Even if your PC gets hacked/infected by virus, you are still able to re-format your pc and restore your file back within a short period of time.
