Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a multi-stage tax which focuses on domestic consumption. GST is charged on all taxable supplies of goods and services in Malaysia except those specifically exempted. After years of discussion, opinions and differing views, the Malaysian government has finally implemented GST on 1 April 2015.

However, due to shortage of GST profession, resources and rapid changing of GST rules and regulation, the route to GST implementation has been a bumpy ride. Businesses are now exposed to risk of unintended violation of GST law and unnecessary penalties. This has not taken into account the cash flow risk, weak economics sentiment and weakening foreign exchange rate risk which businesses are presently facing.
